La Salle Academy To Present At May 3 Philadelphia Rotary Meeting
Students from La Salle Academy will be the presenters at the luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia on Thursday, May 1 (Philadelphia Racquet Club, noon).
Opened as a school to serve underprivileged children in West Kensington in 2003, La Salle Academy started with an enrollment of 30 3rd and 4th graders and now educates 92 children in grades 3-8. The average annual income of the student families is $18,200. In spite of this, La Salle Academy families contribute $200.00 yearly tuition.
The Rotary Club of Philadelphia provided funding last summer for an academic enrichment program since La Salle Academy students attend school 11 months of the year. Additionally, La Salle Academy has formed a Philadelphia Rotary sponsored Early Act service club this year.
La Salle Academy is much more than a school. It is a place where students are loved, nurtured and feel safe while pursuing a rigorous academic program to prepare them for high school.
