Philadelphia Rotaract In Action
The Philadelphia Rotaract, a university partner of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia, recently conducted a successful pizza sale on the Penn campus. Many campus area shops donated pizzas for the project. As a result, the Rotaract Club raised enough funds to inoculate more than 600 children with polio vaccine somewhere in Afghanistan or Pakistan, the only two remaining countries where polio is still endemic. Since 1988, Rotarians around the world have funded vaccines for two billion children and with some powerful international partners (including Bill Gates and the World Health Organization) have eliminated polio in 210 countries.
