So what does the Philadelphia Rotary Do?????

The Rotary Club of Philadelphia continues to have a meaningful presence in Philadelphia and beyond.

  1. New Generations Activities: The Rotary Club of Philadelphia is sponsoring a brand new Early Act Club at the Andrew Jackson Elementary School  and a new Interact Club at West Catholic Prep during 2014-2015. The club financed the attendance of three students at the Rotary District 7450 Youth Leadership Awards conference in March. In addition, the Philadelphia Rotary is continuing to lend support to an active Rotaract Club on the University of Pennsylvania campus is sponsoring a new Rotaract Club at Drexel University.
  2. Vocational Service Recognition: The Rotary Club of Philadelphia began the 2014-2015 year by awarding two Vocational Service Awards to two distinguished Philadelphia citizens.


  1. Twin Club Relationship: In October, the Philadelphia Rotary conducted a SKYPE conference for our members with our twin Rotary Club in Nottingham, UK.


  1. Literacy…a Philadelphia Rotary Signature Project: In October of 2014, Philadelphia Rotary members went onsite to distribute to thousands of dictionaries, thesauruses and library books at four Philadelphia schools. The Rotary Club of Philadelphia has now given more than 15,000 books to Philadelphia school children in the past six years. Additionally, the Philadelphia Rotary has been financing the Computer Assisted Learning Solution (CALS) for student having trouble learning to read at a Philadelphia public school.


  1. Hands-On: Philadelphia Rotarians celebrated the international “Rotarians at Work” day with a service project at the warehouse and store of Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity.


  1. International Activity: The Rotary Club of Philadelphia has been a three year financial partner in support of a Global Grant initiative to reduce infant and maternal deaths in Uganda.


  1. Grants for worthy causes: The Rotary Foundation of Philadelphia awarded grants of more than $30,000 to 19 different groups during 2014-2015.


  1. Social Events: The Philadelphia Rotary has had wonderful social events for club members this year including a reception at the Nelson Shanks mansion; a dinner at Shabu-Shabu; an evening at the Wilma Theater; an Evening of Bowling; a very well attended holiday luncheon; and an Evening of Painting at Studio Incamminati to raise money for polio eradication.


  1. Scholarships: The Rotary Club of Philadelphia was a sponsor of the 2015 Miss Philadelphia pageant and awarded scholarships to two contestants who had exhibited exemplary community service.
