Support the Rotary Foundation of Philadelphia
The Rotary Foundation of Philadelphia awards more than $35,000 each year to worthy and in-need groups and organizations in the Philadelphia community and beyond. With your contribution, we can extend our outreach, and together make even more lives better.
For example, at the local level, our Foundation has financially supported:
outreach programs for the homeless;
efforts to build immigrant literacy;
restoration of music programs in public schools;
targeted education for struggling readers in schools, books for and restorations of public school and community libraries;
the purchase of books for take-home reading aligned with the 100 Book Challenge® reading program;
Grants for students in underserved communities;
a program that combines athletics and mentoring to motivate and academically encourage inner-city youth;
the purchase and distribution of books, dictionaries, thesauruses, and atlases at more than twenty schools in impoverished neighborhoods.
On an international level, our Foundation has financially supported:
a dynamic and highly successful campaign to eliminate polio worldwide;
Rotary teams of medical professionals and volunteer support staff to perform surgeries for cleft palate and serious burns in different countries worldwide;
Shelter Boxes to provide temporary homes for families in natural disaster areas;
a 3-year project to improve maternal health care in Uganda;
rheumatology specialist training in Ethiopia, where treatment for the associated disabling and sometimes fatal diseases was severely limited;
a well project to provide clean and accessible water to a village in Kenya;
improved sanitation for a school in Kenya.
The Rotary Foundation of Philadelphia is recognized as a nonprofit organization under Chapter 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts and bequests to the Rotary Foundation of Philadelphia are tax-deductible for income, gift and estate tax purposes to the extent provided by law.
