YOUTH CLUBS
About Rotaract
Rotaract members are part of a global movement of young leaders who are developing innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rotaract has grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organization of over 10,904 clubs spread around the world and 250,792 members in 184 countries.
Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action through service from big cities to rural villages. Rotaract members decide how to organize and run their clubs, manage their own funds, and plan and carry out activities and service projects. Rotary club sponsors offer guidance and support and work with your club as partners in service.

About Interact
Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun. First authorized at Melbourne High School, Florida, USA on November 5, 1962, the name “Interact” came from combining the words “international” and “action.” Interact is Rotary's approach to a program that enabled the youth to serve both in their communities and internationally. Members connect with over 20,000 Interact Clubs and 468,000 members in 159 countries to: Take action to make a difference in schools and their community; Discover new cultures and promote international understanding; Become a leader in their school and community; Have fun and make new friends from around the world.
Clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary club sponsors mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills. Special events celebrate the global impact of Interact by getting members involved in: World Interact Week; Interact Video Awards; Rotary Youth Day at the United Nations; Global Youth Service Day.
The West Catholic Prep Lasallian Interact Club
The West Catholic Prep Lasallian Interact Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Philadelphia, was officially chartered by Rotary International in 2014. For just over 100 years, West Catholic High School has been a beacon and an oasis for young people in Philadelphia. Over the years, thousands of city students have attended West Catholic High School for Boys, located at 49th and Chestnut Streets, and West Catholic High School for Girls, at 45th and Chestnut Streets. In 1989, declining enrollment forced the merger of the West Catholic Boys and Girls schools into one location at 45th and Chestnut Streets. Then in 2012, the school was scheduled to be closed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. With support from businesses, prominent graduates and Drexel University, West Catholic Prep is once again thriving.
The West Catholic Lasallian Interact Club has built a solid record of community outreach with a wide array of service activities each year. In 2015, the club’s activities earned the prestigious Presidential Citation from Rotary International.
